Women Infants Children helps moms be the mom they want to be. WIC builds healthy lifestyles and strong families by providing food, education, and personalized support from birth until age five.

The Image Farm worked with VT WIC to address challenges around grocery shopping when families use their food benefits. Easy to use training modules help grocers and staff understand the system while a series short, mobile-friendly videos communicates solutions, options and tips to families. The video series is coordinated with VT WIC Foods, a pictorial guide, and other companion materials.

The videos as well as other materials around shipping and breastfeeding have been used and adapted by multiple state WIC programs and have been translated into several languages. Our project team included behavior-change marketing expert Dr. Andrea Grayson, PhD and photographer Karen Pike. Our materials have been translated in several languages and adapted by other WIC programs in additional states.

How to Check Your Balance

Understanding Vermont WIC Food Benefits

The Mother-Baby campaign was developed for WIC visits, doctor’s offices, and hospital stays. The 10 Steps campaign was directed toward health care providers to increase understanding, dispel myths, and improve quality of care.

Several of our strategies and designs, from our comic to standees to checklists and videos, have been adapted by other WIC programs across the country and have been translated into several languages. Evaluation revealed an exceptionally positive response and VT Department of Health received a USDA Performance Bonus for maintaining one of the highest WIC breastfeeding rates—well above the national average.

  • The WIC Program has worked with The Image Farm on some major projects over the past few years.  Notably, eWIC rollout and co-branding WIC outreach materials in conjunction with a national outreach campaign.  Each project had multiple components and each received the attention, creative design and focus needed to make them effective and memorable.
